The stamp is authentic. The heavy black cancel is typical of the period, and the reverse shows paper remnants consistent with a used stamp that was once affixed to a cover or had a hinge.ConditionUsed with a heavy, somewhat messy cancel that obscures parts of the design. Perforations are intact but typical of the era. The reverse has significant paper residue and disturbance. Overall a collectible but average circulated example.ValueCommon used Koban 5 sen blue stamps in this condition are low-value. Better centered, lightly canceled, or scarcer perforation/paper varieties can bring a bit more, but ordinary used examples like this one trade at the low end. Mint examples are worth more. This is a solid classic Meiji-era Japanese stamp from the long-running Koban series
