Middle patch: U.S. Second Army (Second United States Army) shoulder sleeve insignia (SSI).It shows a block numeral “2” (upper/middle strokes red, lower portion white) on an Army green/olive drab background. Red and white are the traditional colors for field armies; the numeral denotes the unit. The design was approved in 1922; the green background was added in 1959 (earlier WWII-era examples often lack the solid green field or use khaki/OD base fabric). These are machine-embroidered cut-edge or similar construction examples typical of mid-20th century issue.Right patch: U.S. Eighth Service Command (VIII Service Command / 8th Corps Area Service Command) SSI.It is a dark blue disc with a white multi-pointed (typically 8-point geometric) star that has a blue center.
