1907–1910 U.S. 1¢ McKinley postal card (Scott UX18 or UX19 / UPSS S22 or S24 range, black on buff stock), not a rarity.IdentificationFront: Standard government postal card with the 1¢ McKinley portrait stamp imprint (profile view in the typical oval/frame design of the regular issues). Clear circular date stamp “MONTICELLO / AUG 2 / 7 PM / WIS.” with killer bars tying the imprint. Addressed in manuscript to “Mr. Lester Davenport / Brod head / Wis.”Back: Handwritten message dated “Monticello, Wis. Aug 2 1910” from “Myrtle Dooley” to “Friend Lester.” Content is a social invitation to a surprise birthday party the following Thursday night, plus a note that “We are going to thresh this afternoon” and a greeting asking after “all the folks.”Period and rate are correct (1¢ domestic postal-card rate). Monticello and Brodhead are neighboring towns in Green County, Wisconsin—purely local mail.Condition appears typical for a used early-20th-century card: buff stock with expected age toning, light wear, and a readable cancel.
