1923-26 Washington Scott# 595 11X11 Perf Cover

Note Measured under scope and obtained the proper size for 595 stamp, however you should have the stamp Certified to attain its highest value for your collection. This is in my personal collection and will go for Cert. if it passes auction. This is a vintage U.S. postal cover (envelope) from July 1925, featuring a single used 2¢ carmine George Washington stamp identified as Scott #595 (rotary press coil waste, perforated 11 x 11 on all sides). Identification of the StampThe stamp is Scott #595 from the Fourth Bureau Issue (1923-1926):Denomination: 2 cents Color: Carmine (reddish-pink) Design: Left-facing profile of George Washington (based on Houdon's bust), with ornate frame, "UNITED STATES POSTAGE" at top, and "2 CENTS 2" at bottom. Printing: Rotary press (design slightly stretched: typically measures ~19.75 mm wide x 22.25 mm high due to paper curvature during printing). Watermark: None (unwatermarked). Perforation: Gauge 11 horizontally and vertically (11 x 11; coarser and fewer holes per 2 cm compared to common perf 11 x 10½ or perf 10 issues). Key variety: Coil waste — originally intended for perf 10 vertical coils, but salvaged imperforate waste sheets were perforated 11 both ways and issued in limited sheets (estimated ~100,000 total stamps released, making it scarcer than standard issues). Addressee: Mr. Edwin M. Hadley Jr., care of S.S. Baltic, White Star Line, New York City (noted as "Antwerp Bound July 4 - '25" — the RMS Baltic was a White Star Line transatlantic liner sailing Liverpool to New York routes; this suggests mailing to a passenger or agent for onboard delivery or forwarding during a July 1925 voyage). Usage: Single 2¢ stamp pays the standard first-class domestic letter rate (2¢ per oz, in effect 1919-1932).
