Maurice Chalvignac studio pottery Mid-century modern ceramic vase. Canadian fat lava vase features a textured drip glaze over a brutalist form. Circa 1960s-70s. 11 x 4.5 in Collector's Note: Born in Paris in 1927 and educated at the École des Beaux-Arts, Maurice Chalvignac immigrated to Quebec, Canada, in 1957. He became a prominent mid-century modern ceramist and artist, heavily influenced by Scandinavian design. Chalvignac is internationally recognized for his brutalist forms and signature "fat lava" drip glazing techniques.
