This item resembles a 19th-century "tramp art" or folk art crucifix, often characterized by layered, notched wood construction.The piece features a hand-carved, gilded wooden corpus of Christ on a cross with a distinctive "crown of thorns" motif.Similar antique table crucifixes have been identified as French or Vietnamese colonial pieces from the mid-to-late 1800s.
