Framed display featuring an original Civil War-era Union Army sleeve insignia consisting of red wool artillery chevrons with a red lozenge (diamond) denoting the rank of First Sergeant, mounted against a light blue fabric background in a decorative mission-style oak frame with brass-tone corner fasteners. An accompanying handwritten note on the reverse identifies the insignia as having been worn by a Union Army soldier during the Civil War, with the red color representing the Artillery branch and the diamond indicating the rank of First Sergeant. The framed display measures approximately 16 inches wide based on the visible tape measure. Light wear to the frame and fabric consistent with age is present. An attractive Civil War military display combining period insignia with strong historical and collectible appeal for Civil War and Union Army memorabilia collectors.
