Mosaic bowl, textile art, Filigrana. D-28

This lot has a filigrana (specifically vetro a reticello). Which is a historic venetian technique made by fusing parallel canes of glass together. Two panes are twisted in opposite directions to form a microscopic, double woven mesh pattern. This creates a tiny uniform air bubble trapped in the matrix. This originated in Murano Italy during the 16th century and demands immense mastery of heat control, symmetry and timing from the glassblower. These mid-century pieces are usually sold at auction for 800 to 2500 dollars. This is a signed piece. There is also a shallow bowl with mosaic pattern centerpiece.
