Wonderful vintage wooden coat hanger from Detroit’s legendary Book-Cadillac Hotel, featuring black advertising lettering reading “BOOK-CADILLAC HOTEL” and “Detroit’s Largest and Finest Hotel.” The hanger retains its original metal hook and wooden trouser bar, displaying an attractive aged finish and authentic surface wear from years of use. Opened in 1924, the magnificent 33-story Book-Cadillac was once celebrated as the tallest hotel in the world and became Detroit’s premier destination for visiting dignitaries, entertainers and professional athletes. Its remarkable guest list included Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Ted Williams, Mickey Mantle, Elvis Presley, Frank Sinatra, Sammy Davis Jr., The Beatles and Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., along with several United States presidents. A fascinating piece of Detroit hospitality, architectural and sports history—especially appealing to collectors of Detroit memorabilia, historic hotel advertising, baseball artifacts and Michigan ephemera.
