1974 Topps Near Set 560+ Cards Traded + Washington

A substantial 1974 Topps Baseball near set of 560+ cards out of 660, assembled with the set's landmark cards present. Headlining it is the complete Hank Aaron run, #1 through #6 — the iconic "New All-Time Home Run King" card plus all five Hank Aaron Special cards tracing his career from 1954 through 1973. This set reached shelves with Aaron sitting one swing from Babe Ruth's record, and he broke it that April, which makes card #1 one of the most historically loaded cards Topps ever printed. The Hall of Fame depth runs deep: Nolan Ryan, Johnny Bench, Reggie Jackson, Joe Morgan, Frank Robinson, and more, along with additional stars and rookie cards throughout.The lot also includes two subsets that set builders specifically hunt: 10 team cards, 40 of the 44 Traded cards, and six or more of the famous "Washington Nat'l Lea." variations — a 15-card error subset created when Topps printed the San Diego Padres as Washington in anticipation of a franchise move that Ray Kroc's purchase of the club cancelled after printing had already begun. Those variations are among the most talked-about printing errors in Topps history.Condition is mid-grade and lower — these are honestly circulated cards with corner and edge wear consistent with cards that were collected and enjoyed rather than stored away.
