U.S. Model 1847 Artillery Musketoon, 26" Barrel, Fair Condition This highly collectible pre-Civil War artillery variant is a short-barreled U.S. military firearm. It features a correct 26-inch round smoothbore barrel, ramrod, and single-band strap stock layout with the swooping double-strap upper muzzle band and lower trigger guard lug. The stock is dark walnut, the lock plate is stamped 1851 Springfield, and the barrel is stamped with V-over-P government proof marks just left of the hammer strike. The two-position cocking action works tight and crisp. U.S. is stamped on the right side plate, with a faint eagle symbol above it. The original ramrod is included, though it sticks tight when inserted into the holder. The metal buttstock cover is also marked U.S. (Not a replica.) There were 3,359 recorded to have been made.
