This is not one you see everyday. This 10"L metal lobster has many movements. The tentacles, body & tail are all on hinged joints, allowing all of them to move naturally. It is really an intricate design. These pieces are often signed by the artist or workshop, such as Myochin Hiroyoshi (this one is not an exception here....there is a mark on the bottom center of the body, but we are not sure what it says). The metal appears to be copper, but it could be a thin bronze. These Japanese Jizai Kimono articulated lobsters originated during the Meiji Period (late 19th to early 20th Century).
