19th-century eyeglass case of burlwood veneer over a rigid core, featuring a kiss-lock metal closure & diamond-shaped escutcheon on the lid. Measures 7-1/2x2-1/4 ins. Interior lined with blue & turquoise fabric. Exhibits wear consistent with age, including visible scratches, dents & a loose hinge. Repairs needed. Historically used for folding spectacles during Victorian/Civil War era.
