Beehive-shaped glass inkwell patented June 4, 1861, with additional Nov 15, 1904 marking. Features a 3-1/2 ins. height & 5-inch diameter brass base. Glass well opens for ink filling, resting securely on a brass platform. Evidence of age-related wear,particularly on brass, but remains in functional condition. Detailed markings stamped on top. A remarkable example of patented 19th-century design.
