Victorian empty daguerreotype photo case, circa 1860–1870. Embossed black papier-mâché exterior with gilt decoration & brass ormolu photograph mat. Includes velvet-lined interior & original brass latch. Measures approximately 3¾ x 3¼ inches. Original photo & cover glass not present. Condition shows age wear, losses to gilt decoration & interior wear. Displays well for restoration or reuse.
