A nocturnal dated July 16, 1872, marked B.C. Coldwell, constructed of wood & paper, featuring multiple revolving parts designed for stellar alignment. Measures 8x10-1/4 ins. Includes a 1-3/4-inch-dia. compass with a metal casing & glass top, featuring a guide label from Johnstons, 639 Liberty Ave, Pittsburgh. Both items exhibit wear consistent with age.
