This is a beautiful, fully functioning, very rare edition of the model 55, as it is a takedawn version. The date of manufacturing appears to be 1927. All we can say is, "Go find one." Don't let this pass you by for your collection! The Winchester Model 55 chambered in .32 Winchester Special (.32 WS) is a highly sought-after lever-action rifle manufactured between 1926 and 1932. Built on a modified Model 94 action, it features a 24-inch barrel, a half-magazine, and was offered in both solid frame and takedown versions. Only about 21,000 were produced. The Winchester Model 55 in .32 WS shares ballistics with the venerable .30-30 but fires a slightly larger diameter bullet, yielding 5 to 10% more energy at close ranges. Finding an original .32 WS, particularly in a takedown configuration, is quite rare since a vast majority of the production run were chambered in .30 WCF (.30-30).
