1943 Lincoln Steel Penny W.W. II Emergency 1943 Lincoln Steel One Cent W.W. II Emergency Issue Condition: This item is housed in a protective slab from the International Numismatic Bureau. The coin shows signs of circulation with a darkened, aged appearance and some loss of the original zinc luster, which is typical for this issue. The strike type is a business strike produced at the Philadelphia Mint as there is no mint mark present under the date. The metal content consists of a low-carbon steel core coated with a thin layer of zinc. This specific composition was an emergency measure taken by the United States during World War II to conserve copper for the production of ammunition and military equipment. These "Steelies" were only produced for the single year of 1943, making them a unique historical artifact from the home front effort. The coin is graded by the International Numismatic Bureau, though a specific numerical grade is not visible on the label. 1943 steel cent, Lincoln penny, World War II emergency issue, coin grading, numismatics, steel wheat penny, coin slab, encapsulated coin, International Numismatic Bureau, vintage currency, US coinage, collectible coins, wartime money 1943 steel penny, Lincoln cent, WW2 emergency issue, rare coins, numismatics, graded coins, collectible currency, US mint history, wheat penny, steel 1c coin IMPORTANT BIDDER NOTICE Bidder is solely responsible for determining value, condition, completeness, authenticity, fitment, grade, and usefulness before bidding.
