1997 Zimbabwe Hyper Inflation Copper 1 Cent coin 1997 Zimbabwe Hyper Inflation Copper 1 Cent Coin Uncirculated This 1997 Zimbabwe 1 Cent copper coin serves as a powerful historical artifact from the era preceding one of the most extreme periods of hyperinflation in modern history. Struck by the Bank of Zimbabwe, this copper piece represents the currency a decade before the government began resetting the dollar with an astronomical number of zeroes. By 2009, hyperinflation had escalated to the point where a single 2009 dollar was equivalent to 10 septillion original dollars. This copper cent features the Zimbabwe Bird on the obverse and the numeral denomination on the reverse, presented in uncirculated condition within a protective flip and accompanied by an educational insert detailing the scale of Zimbabwe's economic history. 1997 Zimbabwe Copper 1 Cent Coin Hyperinflation History Card Condition: The coin appears to be in uncirculated or brilliant uncirculated condition, exhibiting a strong copper luster with no visible wear on the high points of the design. The strike is sharp and well-defined on both the obverse featuring the Zimbabwe Bird and the reverse featuring the numeral one with floral ornaments. The coin is housed in a protective flip accompanied by a historical information card. Minted by the Bank of Zimbabwe in 1997, this copper coin represents the period just before the country's historic hyperinflation crisis. Historically, this 1997 issue became virtually worthless as the currency underwent multiple re-denominations, eventually leading to the abandonment of the Zimbabwean dollar in 2009. The strike type is a standard business strike for circulation. No professional numeric grading is assigned to this specific item.
