Antique British Sinder Rifle

Identification Lock plate marked "1862 ENFIELD" – indicates manufacture at the Royal Small Arms Factory, Enfield, England in 1862. Crown over "V.R." – Queen Victoria Regina, the standard British military marking. Percussion lock (not flintlock). Three-band stock with three barrel bands. Long-range ladder rear sight. Full-length military stock. Ramrod present. Bayonet lug near the muzzle. This is the standard rifle-musket carried by British forces and was also imported in huge numbers during the American Civil War by both the Union and Confederate governments.
