The 2022 Canada "Black" Toonie was issued by the Royal Canadian Mint as a solemn tribute to Queen Elizabeth II. It is the Mint's first-ever circulation coin with a black-nickel colored outer ring, which serves as a symbol of mourning similar to an armband.
