Lot of 6 Antique Horatio Alger Books and Rack

This lot includes six antique hardcover books by the American author Horatio Alger Jr. along with a small pine tabletop book rack. The visible titles are Try and Trust, Herbert Carter's Legacy, Risen From the Ranks, Andy Gordon, Young Acrobat, and a sixth Winston published volume whose spine title is worn and hard to read, with the rest published by M. A. Donohue and Company of Chicago as Complete Edition reprints from the early 1900s. Alger was famous for rags to riches boys stories, and these decorated cloth bindings show colored floral spine art. Condition is fair to good and honest for the age, with fading, soiling, frayed cloth at some spine ends, and general shelf wear as shown in the photos. Worn Donohue and Winston Alger reprints like these typically sell in the five to fifteen dollar range each, and the wooden rack adds display value.
