The reverse bears a Marlborough-Gerson Gallery, New York label identifying the work as an oil on canvas by Mark Rothko, painted in 1955. Description A striking Color Field composition composed of large, softly edged rectangular forms suspended against a luminous orange ground. The simplified arrangement of floating color planes invites contemplation and reflects the meditative qualities associated with post-war Abstract Expressionism.
