Taper chamfers are best for starting a tap or through holes, plug chamfers are for through holes and blind holes, and bottoming chamfers are for blind holes or threading closest to the bottom of holes. They're manually turned with a tap wrench rather than operated with a machine, so they offer greater control at lower speeds. High Speed Steel taps offer good wear resistance, have some flexibility, and can absorb some shock and vibration. Bright (Uncoated) tools can be resharpened and are a good choice for use on soft materials, such as aluminum and low-carbon steel. Straight flutes move chips into the flutes but do not evacuate them, so are best for through holes and materials that produce short chips. They are stronger than spiral-flute tools and resist breaking when used on hard and abrasive materials, such as hardened steels with a Rockwell hardness of 35 to 60 HRC. They provide free-cutting action, generate minimal heat during use, and leave a smooth finish on the hole. Right Hand threads are the most common and run clockwise, pointing up and to the right. ****** IMPORTANT NOTE ******* By bidding on this lot you hereby acknowledge and agree to the following terms: * We do not guarantee the packaging or box of any item. * We don’t expect anyone to pay for an item that is not as represented, however we ask that you preview items prior to bidding. * Minor issues such as scuffs or minor scratches will not be warranted. * Larger items or chemicals may not be eligible for shipping, especially international. * International shipping is available, however we ask the customer to arrange their own shipping and send us a pre-paid label.
