Estimate: 1 / 1000 … Species Plantarum Exhibentes Plantas Rite Cognitas ad Genera Relatas…. Tomus VI. Part I [& 2]. By Carl Linnaeus Berolini: C. Nauk, 1824. 8vo, bound in modern buckram with original wrappers bound in. Two parts bound in one. Untrimmed, Good. PROVENANCE: With the early ownership signature of Charles C. Frost of Brattleboro, VT, title with a gift inscription to him dated 1859. Charles C. Frost (1805–1880) of Brattleboro, Vermont, was one of America's pioneering nineteenth-century botanists and mycologists. The contemporary gift inscription from New Haven, dated 1859, places the volume in Frost's possession during the height of his scientific career. Frost described numerous North American fungi, and his botanical collections are now preserved in major institutional herbaria, including Harvard University and the University of Vermont. Condition: For lots in this online-only auction, condition is stated in general terms only, ranging from Poor to Fine, with Good being average (i.e. an exhaustive list of individual flaws is not included, but only our opinion of the overall cumulative grade is provided.) Most books in this sale have been given a brief inspection only and have not been fully collated (unless the collation is shown.) However, if loss or absence of text is observed during our inspection, then this will always be noted in the description. All lots are sold as-is and not subject to return for any reason. PLEASE READ THE VERY IMPORTANT INFORMATION FOUND IN LOT #1.
