Batashev, Tula, Late 19th Century. A fine antique brass samovar, attributed to the renowned Batashev workshops of Tula, Russia, circa 1880??1900. The body bears a partially legible hallmark with the typical semicircular medal stamp and Cyrillic inscription, consistent with marks used by the Batashev family, who were among the most celebrated samovar makers of Imperial Russia.This piece features a classical urn-shaped form with turned wooden side handles, an ornate spigot, and a chimney cap. The patina and wear are consistent with age and authentic use. The hallmark impressions, though worn, suggest late 19th-century production, during the period when Russian samovars were exported widely and collected as symbols of prestige and craftsmanship.Condition: Good antique condition with surface wear, tarnish, and some rubbing to the hallmarks. Functional components intact.Such samovars remain highly collectible, both as decorative objects and as symbols of Russian tea culture. Comparable examples from Tula workshops, especially those linked to Batashev, are held in museum collections and often command strong interest among collectors.
