token issued by the Republican Presidential Task Force during the 1980s.Key Details & ContextOrigin: It was founded by President Ronald Reagan and distributed by the Republican Presidential Task Force.Purpose: It served as a commemorative thank-you token presented to donors and supporters who contributed financially to the Republican Party campaign between 1980 and 1988.Composition: Despite its brilliant gold color, it is not real gold. It is a base-metal coin composed of a bronze or brass alloy.Design: The obverse side shown features a relief engraving of the White House façade, along with a facsimile of Ronald Reagan’s signature and the inscription "MEDAL OF MERIT" and "FOUNDER". The reverse side depicts a bald eagle with the text "REPUBLICAN PRESIDENTIAL TASK FORCE".
