Antique Art Nouveau figural cast metal statue with mid century post lamp conversion or rewiring for repairs. Signed J Causse (Julien) and with a medallion marked Fabrication Francaise Made in France. 2 rough spots at her back, possibly where the pole was attached. 35" to finial, 19 1/2" to her finger tip. Julien Causse (1869-1914) was a prolific French sculptor during the art nouveau period of the late 19th and early 20th centuries who specialized in small figures. CaussÈ was born in Bourges, France and was active as sculptor from 1890 until his death in 1914. He studied under Alexandre FalguiËre and his pieces were exhibited at the Salon des Artists Francais in the 1890s, obtaining honorable mentions in 1882 and 1900 and a third class medal in 1893. He also took part in the Exposition Universelle of 1900. In his career he produced hundreds of works of art in the Art Nouveau style.
