The 1901 $5 Gold Liberty coin is part of the Liberty Head Half Eagle series (18391908), designed by Christian Gobrecht. The obverse features a left-facing portrait of Lady Liberty, adorned with a coronet inscribed LIBERTY and surrounded by thirteen stars. The reverse showcases a heraldic eagle clutching an olive branch and arrows, with the motto IN GOD WE TRUST and inscriptions of UNITED STATES OF AMERICA and the denomination FIVE D.
