This antique 1892 etching by Benjamin Lander depicts a nocturnal pastoral scene with a shepherd leading a flock of sheep through a wooded landscape under a full moon. The work is printed on paper and features an etched signature reading BENJ. LANDER at the lower left, an etched inscription reading Copyright 1892, by Benj. Lander at the top left, and a pencil signature reading Benj. Lander in the lower right margin. The top right margin is inscribed Published by C.Klackner, 7 W. 28th St. N.Y. 20 Old Bond St. London. It is housed in a dark wood veneer frame with a matted border. Frame measures 26.5 x 35.5 inches. Significant water staining is present along the bottom edge of the mat and lower print margin. The paper shows general toning and foxing. The frame has multiple losses and chips to the veneer.
