Title: Woman with a White Parasol in a Flowering Meadow by a Pond Technique: Oil on canvas Measures: 28 x 20 inches (71.1 x 50.8 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with soft, luminous coloration and lively, textured brushwork, particularly in the flowers, foliage, and sky. No significant paint losses or tears are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Presented in a wide reddish-brown wooden frame with a satin finish, showing minor surface wear. Not examined out of the frame. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Provenance: Private collection, Miami; private acquisition, Tokyo Visual Description: A tranquil summer landscape in vertical format, in which a woman in a long burgundy and plum dress walks through a meadow, seen from behind and holding a white parasol that shades her head and shoulders. The meadow fills the lower half of the canvas with a profusion of wildflowers in rose pink, coral, crimson, golden yellow, and white, scattered among dense grasses of emerald, lime, and olive, all rendered in short, flickering strokes. At left, a flowering shrub of orange, amber, and pale yellow rises along the edge of the composition. Beyond the woman, a calm pond reflects the soft colors of the sky and two pale houses with blue-gray roofs, one with red accents, set beside a round-crowned tree on the far bank. At right, a wooded hillside in green, blue, and golden tones slopes down toward the water. The sky above is a delicate blend of turquoise, aqua, and pale blue, warming toward the horizon into bands of peach, apricot, lavender, and pink, as if lit by the low sun of early evening. The broken brushwork, the attention to light and atmosphere, and the quiet, contemplative mood reflect the visual language of Impressionist landscape painting.
