Title: Pop Portrait of a Blonde Woman on a Mint Green Ground Technique: Silkscreen on canvas Measures: 36 x 36 inches (91.4 x 91.4 cm) Year: Undated Condition: Appears in generally good visual condition based on the photographs supplied, with clean, flat, evenly printed color fields and crisp edges between the color areas. No significant losses, tears, or scratches are apparent in the available images. Minor surface irregularities, light handling marks, and age-related wear may be present. Condition is described from the photographs supplied. Please review all photographs carefully, as they form an integral part of the condition description. Provenance: Private Collection Visual Description: A large, square head-and-shoulders portrait of a woman that fills almost the entire canvas, isolated against a flat field of mint and seafoam green. Her face is rendered as a single unmodulated area of pale lilac-pink, with features defined by flat black printed shapes: arched brows, heavy-lidded eyes accented with bright turquoise eyeshadow, a simplified shadowed nose, a small beauty mark, and full lips printed in deep crimson and black. A voluminous mass of curled hair in lemon yellow frames the face, broken by jagged black and dark brown shadow shapes that describe the curls in a high-contrast, photographic manner. Broad black areas wrap around the jaw and neck, flattening the form, while a touch of deep red appears at the lower edge as a collar or garment. Slight offsets between the color fields and the black printed layer, visible along the edges of the hair, face, and eyeshadow, emphasize the mechanical, layered nature of the process. The glamorous, iconic subject, the artificial palette, and the repeated photographic image recall the graphic vocabulary of Pop Art celebrity portraiture and its exploration of fame and mass production. This composition reflects stylistic elements commonly associated with major figures in modern and contemporary art.
