Lefton Pottery "Scottish Lass" cookie jar (cataloged as model #1173), produced in Japan during the 1950s. This highly charming mid-century piece depicts a young Scottish girl or "lassie" sculpted in a Highland dance pose. Her torso and raised arm form the removable lid, while her wide, bell-shaped skirt acts as the container base. She is decorated with a vibrant forest green jacket, a black belt with a molded silver buckle, and a traditional pink-and-white crisscrossed tartan plaid pattern on her kilt, sash, and glengarry bonnet. Delicate light-blue flowers accent her hair and sash tassel.
