C-21656

Single-drawer wooden tabletop document cabinet. The shallow drawer is fitted with two white porcelain mushroom-form pull knobs and slides within a low-profile molded case intended for storing papers, correspondence, or writing implements on a desk or library table. The drawer front is constructed from a different wood species than the drawer sides and secondary woods, a common practice in quality late-19th-century cabinetmaking. Produced circa 1880–1900.

Surface scratches, finish wear, and scattered scuffs throughout consistent with age and use. The birdseye maple drawer front has a split and loss along the lower edge as shown. Minor wear and small finish losses are present along edges and corners. Drawer operates smoothly and retains its original porcelain knobs.

22.75" L x 10.75" W x 3.25" H
