Simply sign in. 2. REGISTER FOR THIS AUCTION Find the Richard & Barbara Hodges Living Estate auction and click “Register to Bid.” Complete the requested information, provide payment information if required, and read and accept the auction terms. You must register for each auction, even if you have used HiBid before. Register early so there is time for approval. 3. TRY A TEST BID If the catalog includes a lot specifically marked “TEST BID” or “PRACTICE BIDDING,” open it and follow its instructions. Enter a practice amount, review it and confirm your bid. Only practice on a clearly designated test lot. A bid on an actual sale item is a real commitment to purchase—not a test. 4. PLACE YOUR BID Open the item you want, read the description, review the photos and check the auction terms. Click the bid button, enter your amount and review it carefully before confirming. Check the screen to see whether you are the high bidder or have been outbid. 5. HOW A MAXIMUM BID WORKS Your maximum bid is the highest bid you authorize HiBid to place for you. The system bids automatically in the required increments, increasing your bid only when needed to compete. Example: You enter a $100 maximum. If $60 is enough to win when the item sells, your winning bid is $60—not $100. If competing bids require it, the system can bid up to your $100 limit. It will not go over that limit unless you raise it. An immediate “outbid” message can mean someone already entered a higher maximum. 6. WHAT HAPPENS WHEN TWO BIDS TIE? For equal online maximum bids, the first one entered takes priority. If you enter a $100 maximum and another online bidder later enters $100, you remain ahead at $100. Vehicles, motorcycles, camper and implements begin selling live and online through HiBid at 1:00 PM SHARP. Being the high bidder before the live sale does not mean you have won. Bidding continues against online and in-person bidders until the auctioneer sells the item. If bidding live online, follow the bidding screen and submit promptly. 8. PLAN FOR YOUR TOTAL PURCHASE PRICE Your maximum bid does not include the buyer’s premium or applicable taxes and fees. Online bidders pay a 13% buyer’s premium; save 3% with cash or wire.
