Brandon House Gay Rights Paperback. Roger Blake's The Homosexual Explosion!, published by Brandon House in 1966, is a pre-Stonewall paperback examining homosexuality amid the shifting legal and cultural debates of the 1960s. Its sensational red illustrated wrapper depicts a classical bust and advertises discussion of changing homosexual laws, homophile clubs, and related literature. The original 95-cent cover price and Brandon imprint remain visible. Beyond its provocative marketing, this title is of interest as period evidence of how gay identity, organizing, and social reform were being presented to a mass readership shortly before the modern gay liberation movement gained prominence. A copy is documented in New York University's gay and lesbian pulp fiction collection. The front wrapper shows pronounced overall scuffing, color abrasion, small spots, creases, and worn edges and corners.
