Unique selection of a framed piece of art, perfect for collectors or gallery exhibition. The piece is entitled “Paris Opera Ceiling” (Le Plafond de l'Opéra de Paris) and was created after the work of the legendary Russian-French master of Modernism, Marc Chagall (1887–1985). Originally commissioned in 1963 and unveiled in 1964 as a monumental 2,600-square-foot ceiling mural for the Palais Garnier, this spectacular work is rendered here as a beautiful limited-edition circular lithographic print. The composition functions as a lyrical, kaleidoscopic wheel of color and fantasy, divided into vivid color zones that pay homage to historic opera and ballet composers including Mozart, Wagner, Mussorgsky, Berlioz, and Ravel. Swirling across the canvas are Chagall's signature dreamlike motifs: ethereal musicians, floating lovers, angels, whimsical animals, and iconic silhouettes of Paris landmarks. Marc Chagall was one of the most influential, distinct, and commercially successful artists of the 20th century. Celebrated for his poetic, highly narrative style that defied strict classification, his work seamlessly blended elements of Cubism, Fauvism, and Surrealism with folklore and personal memory. His massive artistic legacy spans landmark public masterpieces worldwide, including stained-glass windows for the United Nations and Metz Cathedral, large-scale murals for the Metropolitan Opera, and countless globally exhibited paintings. His works reside permanently in prestigious global institutions including the Musée National Message Biblique Marc Chagall, the Museum of Modern Art (MoMA), and the Tate, remaining premier blue-chip acquisitions on the secondary art market. The overall picture is framed, matted, and under glass, holding an elegant presentation. The lower-right margin featured a dedicated cutout revealing Chagall’s authorized signature, which is printed on the portrait (facsimile signature). The lower-left margin also has a cutout with what appears to be an authentic hand-written pencil notation of “369/500”, confirming that the piece is a numbered release from a limited publisher of 500 copies. Overall artwork measures approx. 39” H x 38” W with the interior print measuring approx. 24.5” H x 28” W. The frame does hold some clearly visible scuffs, dings, and surface scratches along the edges from prior storage and handling, but the print holds great representation. **Due to the size and weight, we cannot ship this item.
