Pre-owned antique condition with normal wear from age and use, including scratches, finish loss, discoloration and surface oxidation as shown. The red finish appears to have been applied later. Stanley Bailey No. 26 wood-bottom transitional jack plane. Marked "BAILEY / STANLEY RULE & LEVEL CO. / No. 26" on the toe, with BAILEY cast into the metal frame ahead of the knob and additional Stanley markings on the components. Based on the toe stamp and raised BAILEY casting, this plane is consistent with Roger K. Smith's Type 13 transitional-plane classification, dating approximately 1909-1912. The No. 26 model was manufactured as a 15-inch jack plane with a 2-inch cutter. Functionality and completeness have not been verified. Individual components have not been verified as original to the plane. See photographs for condition, markings, measurements and additional details.
