AU-1964 Silver Kennedy Half Dollar - About Uncirculated. First year Kennedy half, only year struck in 90% silver .3617 oz ASW for circulation, Philadelphia or Denver mint. Obverse: John F. Kennedy by Gilroy Roberts, created just months after JFK's assassination in Nov 1963. Reverse: Heraldic eagle by Frank Gasparro. AU shows trace wear on Kennedy's cheek and hair, eagle's feathers, but 80%+ original mint luster remaining. 1964 is the iconic one-year-only 90% silver Kennedy - after this, 1965-1970 dropped to 40% silver and 1971+ to clad. Most heavily saved U.S. silver coin, pulled from circulation immediately by public mourning. A cornerstone for any silver type set.
