It includes work from the Weller, Roseville, J.B. Owens, Denver and Lonhuda Potteries, where he was employed at various times in his career. This collection includes items descended in the Leffler and Williamson families along with items purchased over his lifetime. Claude Leffler (1877-1960) was a well-known decorator of Weller Pottery in Zanesville, Ohio. The following biography of Claude Leffler was written by J. Claude Williamson: Claude Leffler was born on a farm south of Philo in Harrison Township, Muskingum County, Ohio in 1877. His family moved to Zanesville where he lived on Moxahala Ave. in the Putnam section. As a young man he worked with William Long at the Denver Art Pottery and when he returned to Zanesville, he roomed on Lake Drive. In the early 1920's he moved into a small cottage on Muskingum Ave. two or three blocks south of the 6th Street Bridge still within walking distance of the Weller Pottery. The Muskingum River bank was on the other side of the street giving the site a pleasant open view. I remember family picnics in his yard, which had several flowerbeds, and a dank smelling green house in the rear where he extended the season for flowers and ferns. Although he worked at J. B. Owens and Roseville in Zanesville, as well as the stint in Denver, CO, he worked mostly at Weller. He moved to Oakland, CA, in 1928, and worked at St. Mary's College and at Fabiola Hospital Associ
